Instructional Strategies

Exploration / Problem- based Learning: Exploration will be one of the most important aspects of my classroom instruction. The goal of my teaching will be for students to work with different materials and situations set up by the teacher in order that they may discover conceptual knowledge for themselves and in their own terms before I, as the teacher, take their knowledge and add to it to be sure that there is a class wide understanding. I would then work with students individually or in small group to help them understand concepts that they do not understand fully. Not every standard can be addressed this way but there can be student exploration in most subject areas and topics. 

Technology: In our classroom students will spend a lot of time doing work and exploring information through technology. Students will have access to the majority of the information that we work with in class through their one note and one drive. They will turn in a lot of information via one note and email when this is the case it will be graded on one note and a rubric will be sent home with the grade. I will leave feedback on their assignments in one note and on the rubric. We will also use technology in other ways in class to enhance student learning. 

Small Group: I believe that some of the best learning for students happens when they are being met at their level learning in a small group setting. Our class will learn a lot during small group situations in order that students are learning on their level as much as possible. This small group setting is designed to help differentiate instruction for students. While small groups are meeting other students will be working on station work related to the topics that they learned in small group.
